Today, the "Give A Dollar" Wild Horse Global Relief Project, launched by Karen Mayfield of Wild Mustang Coalition and one of the Projects supporters and coordinators, Director of Whispering Winds Mustang Ranch, Susan Pohlman, announced a change in direction for the Project.
Extensive research into some of the Projects original goals resulted in the need to reorganize though “still continuing in a direction that will benefit” America’s wild horses and burros.
Due to this restructuring, Director Pohlman has issued a notice to those who have previously donated stating they may request a complete refund, may continue to allow prior donations to be held in a money market fund held in trust by Whispering Winds reserved exclusively for wild horse and burro restoration on public lands and/or legal fees to prevent mass euthanasia’s or may request their donations be transferred from the trust fund now overseen by Whispering Winds to a BLM arranged trust fund overseen exclusively by Karen Mayfield of Wild Mustang Coalition.
Both Wild Mustang Coaliation and Whispering Winds Mustang Ranch will continue to pursue efforts to return wild horses and burros to the range and have expressed their shared vision and common goals towards helping America's imperiled wild horses and burros but Director Pohlman would like it known Whispering Winds Mustang Ranch will no longer be associated in any manner with the specific efforts of the "Give A Dollar" Wild Horse Global Fund Relief Project while Ms. Mayfield wants the public to understand it is has and will continue to be her Project now in partnership with BLM.
However, due to the "Give A Dollar" Wild Horse Global Fund Relief Project using Whispering Winds 501 (c) status to coordinate donation efforts, interested individuals must contact Director Pohlman if they wish to make arrangements regarding previous donations.
